Navan Places to Visit
Navan, An Uaimh in Irish, is one of the largest towns in County Meath. An Uaimh means “the cave” and was the official town name from 1922 until 1971, when it was officially changed to Navan. Many famous faces have come from Navan, including Pierce Brosnan, Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran. Famous DJ John O Callaghan is also a local. The River Boyne flows through the town, one of the most historic rivers in the country.
Places to Visit in Navan, Meath
You will never be stuck for something to do in Navan, with many attractions in the town and nearby.
The Solstice Arts Centre is located right in the middle of the town, with many shows, plays and exhibitions taking place. The centre celebrates local and national artists and really has something for everyone.
For those who love shopping, Navan Shopping Centre has a variety of stores, from supermarkets like Tesco, to clothing stores like New Look and Penneys. Have a break and enjoy a bite to eat or cup of coffee in one of the many eateries.
Meath County Council is based in Navan and operates out of their headquarters in County Hall.
Some of Ireland’s most famous sites, including Newgrange and the Hill of Tara are all within driving distance.
For the daredevil, there’s lots to do in Navan, including paintballing, go karting and clay pigeon shooting.
Sports lovers will find lots to do here. Navan is home to Pairc Tailteann, where many Meath County and Club matches take place. Why not relax and unwind, enjoy a day at the races at Navan Racecourse.
Transport in Navan, Meath
There are lots of places to park in Navan, including a large shopping centre, on street – all paid parking, so ensure you buy a ticket and avoid the clampers!
The M3 runs by Navan, providing easy access for those travelling from Dublin.

Taxis are easy to come by, with various taxi ranks set up in the town, including right outside the shopping centre.
