Drogheda Places to Visit
Peculiarly, the County Louth port town of Drogheda was originally two separate towns - but you are unlikely to find yourself in two minds about whether you like this enticing coastal hideaway.
The two separate towns were Drogheda-in-Meath and Drogheda-in-Oriel, but they were united in 1412 to form a County Corporate. The modern town is the River Boyne's last bridging point before the Irish Sea.
In recent years, it has developed a community of artistic types who, despite Dublin being only 35 miles further south, have remained attracted to what Drogheda has to offer.

Drogheda is far more culturally vibrant than you might expect given its size. Highlights of the cultural calendar include the annual Samba festival and a pantomime typically in January or February.
This pantomime is only a small part, however, of the town's strong theatrical traditions. It's worth checking out what the various local theatre organisations have to offer, at venues including the Calipo Theatre and the Droichead Arts Centre.
With five shopping centres in Drogheda, you're unlikely to find a shortage of good retail opportunities. The centres include the self-explanatory Drogheda Shopping Centre, plus Abbey Shopping Centre and Boyne Shopping Centre.
Among the town's high quality eateries, we especially suggest you try D'Vine.
For family-friendly accommodation in Drogheda, you won't find much better than The d Hotel.
