Ashford Places to Visit
Ashford town is located on the river Vartry and is to the north of Rathnew and Wicklow town. The Irish name for Ashford is Áth na Fuinseoige and the town itself is historically known as Ballymacahara.
Places to Visit in Ashford, Wicklow
The town is home to a number of attractions the top of which would be the Mount Usher Gardens and the Arboretum located just on the edge of the village. The gardens are also home to a number of shops and are leased by the Avoca Company.
The village is now home to Ashford studios which have seen a number of large film projects in Wicklow and throughout Ireland take place. Located next to the studios is the local farmer’s co-op and garden center. The town has a few local restaurants and pubs.
Transport in Ashford, Wicklow
Ashford is located a few minutes from the N11 motorway and used to be the main Dublin to Wicklow route. The town itself is served by the 133, 002 and 006 bus routes which serve Dublin, Rosslare and Waterford respectively.
