Stonepark in the last ten year's became a very elite and desirable school for any child.
With this status, of course everybody wanted their child to go to it.
Resulting in much higher numbers and a decrease in the superb teaching skills which it was noted for.
A couple of miles out of Longford town, on the Ballymahon road.
It is large for a national school, with a large playground and in general a good school with great teacher's and facilities.
Just do not expect what this school was praised for 10 year's ago.
People not wanting to school their children within Longford town schools are choosing Stonepark.
But are not realising that with the increase in numbers to this school , the town schools are decreasing in number's .
Therefore increasing their status and quality of teaching..swings and round-abouts !
Everyone wants to choose the right location for their childs education, but remember being out of the cachment area will have major future drawbacks for you're child.
No they cannot participate within their schooling parish's community sports and if they go to their own parish what children do they know, and they feel like they don't belong there, or are made feel that way.
If the community school is not good enough for them then they should'nt be at the sports.
We all know it goes on, and has for many year's
Every child needs a sense of belonging from the very first day of school.
Personally I would prefer to have a child happy in their education than top of the class. If both could happen then that's marvelous. But not usually the way things turn out.
I have the choice of sending mine to Stonepark, but am declining due to the increase in number's and I want my child to feel like he belongs within his community.
On this note Stonepark do run an anual sports day, open to all, which is a fantastic day for all the children.
Wanting you're child to gain a high mark
Considering the reputable school at Stonepark
Once called a tremendous and wonderful school
Standards however, have begun to fall
