Located behind St Mels Cathederal in Longford is the Society of St Vincent De Paul.
They work from Ozanam House The first conference was established in Longford in 1859. Ozanam House, the headquarters was opened in 1969.
Working to help anybody that have been unfortunate and struggling for a period.
Doing fantastic work here in Longford . Holding a weekly clinic in Ozanam house where people in need can call and ask for assistance.
There are also two hostels ran by the society on the Dublin road , St. Martha’s and Bethany House. Both are excellently maintained for any person who may need the facility.
Providing shelter for the homeless and victims of domestic violence for many years now.
One of these houses provides beds and the first meal of the day for men, whilst the other accommodation is for women and their children.
Further to these there are 10 houses within their housing scheme and a community centre which was opened early in 2009. All of the houses are occupied and the new community centre has become a focal point for the area.
This society has been the salvaton of many Irish people for over 100 years and they do marvelous work. To all their volunteers ..very well done. read more >>
