I like coming here for a relaxing luch or dinner. The food is good, rustic and hearty. I really like the quiche and the burgers with satay sauce are awesome. Not the biggest fan of their desserts as I'm a lover of dairy and gluten but if you are someone with special dietry needs this place is great. All the food is clearly labled so you don't have to ask if something is wheat-free etc... The atmosphere is very relaxed. Sometimes they have art on the walls which you can buy if you have deep enough pockets. read more >>
I used to love eating at the Quay co-op but these days I find there's better value to be had elsewhere. The food is lovely though and non-vegetarians enjoy it too. The health food shop downstairs is the best in Cork in my opinion, they stock lots of different brands and have Dr Hauschka and a lot of other natural cosmetics brands. I always check the notice board if I'm looking for yoga calsses. read more >>
A great alternative, veggie restaurant. Great food excellent trifle which i'm partial to at the best of times. Great and different atmosphere, cheese cloths on tables etc. Excellent pizza by the slice, goat cheese and the likes. Plenty of tables on two floors and excellent view over the river lee and the newly constructed grand parade for people watching. Enjoy. read more >>
When i was first taken in here i had never actually eaten in a vegetarian restaurant and i was a bit skeptical.... (i'm a carnivore and i make no apololies for it) however i was plesantly surprised but the varity and even more so by the taste. i had some bean burgers which were a bit dry but i did get a choice of sauces with them, they have a large selection of strange looking salad concoctions but it has converted me and i'm no longer bored/afraid of vegetarian food.
The restaurant itself if fairly basic in decor but it's just a "nice" place and if you enjoy the food you will be back read more >>
apparently founded in 1982 as a radical/alternative community project by a collective effort of feminist, lesbian & gay, environmental and other alternative groups and individuals. that kind of vibe is certainly still there, plus good healty food, airy room, somewhere different for lunch. organic, veggie and the baked goods are v good. read more >>
The Quay Co-Op is an organic and wholefood shop full of organic treats including wines, cakes, breads, and eggs. Its also stocks many gluten, vegan, dairy and wheat-free products. Upstairs is located its organic restauant which is full of ambience and has an extensive range of dishes. Being a coeliac myself this is one of the best places to shop in cork for variety! read more >>
