Botox Wrinkle InjectionsBotoxBotox is the best known and most popular non-surgical treatment for treating lines and wrinkles caused by smiling, laughing, sun damage, smoking and frowning. It is used to prevent the muscle contractions that cause creases, furrows and fine lines when the face is in motion. If these lines and creases are more prominent when your face is in a relaxed state, then a simple treatment of botox can usually relax your expressions and help your skin smooth out. All our anti-ageing injectable treatments are carried out by cosmetic doctors & nurses who are highly trained and experienced in the art of facial aesthetics. In our medical staff’s experienced hands, Botox is used in an artistic way, unique to your individual facial anatomy to restore a relaxed and more youthful appearance to the face, lending a subtle lift to the brows.
Hylagen have patients and clients travel from all parts of Ireland including Dublin, Cork, Galway and Drogheda. We pride ourselves on the fact that 85% of our new business comes from recommendations from existing clients. The treatment is safe and virtually painless and results are visible within three to fourteen days, lasting for three to four months. Someone having botox treatment for the first time will usually need the treatment 3 times in the first year leading to twice a year there after. The effects will depend on age and wear and the skins condition to begin with. A good skin regime can add great benefits to the results of Botox treatment; by adding moisture and vitamins to your skin regularly the elasticity is increased, therefore the visible results will be better. Frequently asked questionsWhat areas can be treated with Botox? Many different areas of the face can be treated with Botox. But we at Hylagen will only offer the tried and tested options such as the frown line (the vertical lines between the eyebrows), the worry lines (the horizontal lines across the forehead) and the crows feet (the lines which protrude from the sides of our eyes. Botox is priced according to each of these 3 areas, with 1 area costing £99, 2 areas £159 and 3 areas costing £199 at Hylagen. Why is the treatment called Botox when it is actually the drug “Botulinum Toxin” used?Botox is the brand name for Allergans’ type of Botulinum Toxin. The word “Botox” become their trade name for the drug and like a vacuum is called a Hoover even though a Hoover is an actual brand of vacuum, the public and media have latched onto the word Botox making it the buzz word when speaking or writing about the drug. There are several other different brands of Botulinum Toxin all equally as good as each other, which are Dysport, Xeomin, Azzalure and Vistabel. It will be the choice of your doctor or nurse which brand they are comfortable and confident in using. How does Botulinum Toxin work?Botulinum Toxin blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. Botulinum Toxin relaxes the muscles so that they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin starts to become smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. Some people like a frozen look from their Botox treatment, but we at Hylagen do not and will not offer this as we find it is false and unnatural looking. Are Botulinum Toxin treatments safe?Botulinum Toxin injections have been used safely for over twenty years to treat many neurological and ophthalmological disorders. Each year tens of thousands of patients receive Botulinum Toxin on the NHS for relief from a variety of conditions such as eye twitching, muscle disorders and cerebral palsy. Like any drug, when administered by a trained professional with the correct experience, Botox is very safe for cosmetic use. What is the treatment like?Cosmetic Treatment with Botulinum Toxin is a simple and safe procedure. Using a tiny micro-needle, a very small amount of Botulinum Toxin is injected very precisely into several locations on the upper face area. The needle is so fine and only a small amount is used, therefore the pain associated with the injection is minimal. Most patients compare the sensation to a mosquito bite. No sedation or local anaesthetic is required. You can resume normal activities immediately afterwards and even drive yourself home or back to your place of work. Are there any side effects? Some patients experience a slight temporary bruising or redness at the injection site. This may be covered up with makeup. In some cases, the toxin can migrate and cause temporary weakness to nearby small muscles. In rare cases there can be drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. The risk of any side effect depends upon the muscles injected and the aftercare being followed by the client. Your doctor/nurse will discuss this with you in detail before the treatment. Because the effects of Botulinum Toxin are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary, lasting only a few days/weeks.What results can I expect? If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, cosmetic botox treatment can help smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasing appearance. However, this treatment cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions. Muscle relaxing injections will not improve sagging skin or replace the need for a facelift or brow lift. More extreme measures are usually the only option for these cases. What are the limitations of Botulinum Toxin?Unfortunately, Botulinum Toxin injections are a temporary solution for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. The effects of the injections last from three to six months. You will need to have injections about two to three times a year. The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of the treatment benefits is increased over time so that you should require fewer injections in the future. The duration of the effect varies from patient to patient and may be less effective for those over 65 years of age. Is Botox safe long term?Botox has been used in patients to manage various conditions for over 10 years and in the UK and Ireland for well over 15 years around the world. Millions of treatments have been administered to date with no dangerous side effects or long term problems reported. _
IPL Laser Facial Thread VeinsFacial Thread Veins CavanIf you’re suffering from facial veins, you could find the solution to your problems with Hylagen’s innovative facial vein removal treatment using our advanced laser technology. Facial veins – or spider veins – are rarely painful but can cause a great deal of trauma and embarrassment for sufferers. Hylagen can help restore your self-confidence through the latest in laser technology to provide effective facial vein removal without pain or huge costs. Why choose Hylagen for facial vein removal treatment?Hylagen’s status as a leader in non-surgical cosmetic procedures means that we have expertise to offer patients the latest facial vein removal treatments in a safe and professional manner. Through facial vein removal treatments, we can help eliminate facial veins and spider veins that occur due to Telangiectasia, a condition caused by the ageing process or hereditary reasons, as well as the facial flushes associated with rosecea. Frequently asked questionsWhat causes facial veins?Facial veins (Spider veins) are formed by an increase in blood pressure. The body releases the pressure by forcing blood into veins on the surface of the skin. In the skin condition known as rosacea the cheeks and nose flush easily and over time turn permanently red. This condition is also associated with pimples and spots in addition to facial veins. While spider veins and flushed skin do not normally indicate a major medical problem, mostsufferers are keen to get rid of them due to embarrassment with a facial vein removal procedure. Spider veins have an unsightly appearance that can affect the confidence of sufferers How are spider veins treated? Before any treatment is carried out, Hylagen will invite you in for a free consultation with a skilled laser technician who can carry out facial vein removal. Normally, only 3 or 4 facial vein removal treatments with our special laser are required in order to reduce the redness and visibility of the spider veins. How does facial vein removal work?Facial vein removal works by using a laser to deliver precise dosages of energy to each vein. By carefully targeting the individual areas, there is minimal risk to the surrounding skin. The laser is a precision instrument that delivers the energy through a special hand piece directly to the targeted vein. The tissues of the vein absorb the energy causing it to die off. Over a short period of time the vessel is then absorbed by the body. How long do the results last? The treatments that Hylagen use for facial vein removal are permanent, and once a particular vein or vessel has been destroyed, it will never return. However, the treatment is unable to prevent the development of additional veins in the future. Some patients could see new facial veins in the future, especially if they do not take care to protect their skin against harmful exposure to the sun. In order to minimise the risk of facial veins returning, Hylagen recommend that everyone uses sunscreen to protect their skin. _
Restylane Dermal Fillers Lines & WrinklesIf you’re looking for a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that will smooth out the effects of premature ageing and rid you of those age portraying nose to mouth lines, dermal fillers could be the answer. The stresses and strains of modern life can take their toll on your skin, resulting in imperfections that are likely to show up on your face more quickly than any other part of your body. Through dermal fillers like Restylane, Hylagen Clinics can lift and smooth those unwanted folds and wrinkles, giving you an altogether more relaxed and youthful appearance along with a brighter complexion due to the hyaluronic acid content in the dermal fillers. Why choose Hylagen Clinics for dermal fillers?Hylagen Clinics is one of Ireland’s leaders in dermal filler procedures. Whether your skin is losing its tautness due to too much sun or too little sleep, our dermal filler specialists can fill out lines and wrinkles that have appeared from your nose to mouth or the “glum lines” which are present from the corners of our mouths as we age. Frequently asked questionsWhat can dermal fillers improve?
What are dermal fillers?A dermal filler is a substance which is injected into the skin to plump it up, make it firmer and smooth out lines, creases and wrinkles. There are many types of dermal fillers on the market these days but Hylagen Clinics only use synthetically produced non-animal products consisting of hyaluronic acid which is a natural chemical constituent of the skin. These products are far less likely to produce allergic reactions than old-fashioned dermal fillers such as collagen which is derived from cow hide. Are dermal fillers safe? The dermal fillers Hylagen Clinics use are extremely safe with a low incidence of allergic reaction. There is, however, a very small possibility of allergic reaction, which will be discussed with you when you visit your Hylagen Cosmetic consultant. You can expect some degree of redness and swelling after the treatment, which usually clears up within 1-2 days. Dermal fillers used at SurgiCare include Restylane Touch, Restylane & Restylane Perlane, How are dermal fillers applied?Dermal fillers are injected, usually without the need for local anaesthetic, into lines and wrinkles to lift and plump them out. The dermal filler then remains in the skin, where it binds water to produce a lift and give firmness to the treated area. How long do dermal fillers take? The dermal filler treatment usually takes around 20 minutes including medical consultation. How long do dermal fillers last?Typically, the results of dermal fillers can last six to nine months but this varies from one person to another. The filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, so the lines, wrinkles or creases will ultimately return to their previous appearance without top up treatments. What is Restylane?

Restylane for LipsHylagen lip enhancement treatments mean that full, luscious and more defined lips need no longer be associated with youth. As time passes, our lips thin and lose definition, forming fine lines that can cause lipstick to bleed. Lip enhancement treatments from Hylagen can reduce this impact, making your lips appear plumper and more youthful.
Why choose Hylagen for lip enhancement treatment? As one of Ireland’s leaders in lip enhancement treatments, we can help you create fuller and younger looking lips by injecting dermal fillers into your top and bottom lips to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and increase the lip definition around your mouth. Restylane dermal filler helps create luscious, kissable lips with a totally natural look and feel through lip enhancement treatment. With a fuller and more sensuously formed mouth, you’re sure to turn back the clock on your facial appearance. Frequently asked questionsWhat are lip enhancement dermal fillers?Dermal fillers are a substance that can be injected under the skin to make it firmer and smooth out any wrinkles. There are many different dermal fillers available, but at Hylagen, we only use synthetic products consisting of hyaluronic acid which is a natural chemical found in the skin. Because they are not produced from animal products, the dermal fillers that Hylagen use are much less likely to produce allergic reactions than older fillers such as collagen, which is derived from cowhide. Are dermal fillers safe?At Hylagen, we use synthetic dermal fillers that are extremely safe and have a very low incidence of allergic reaction. As with any procedure, there is, however, a very small possibility of allergic reaction, and this will be fully explained to you during your consultation at Hylagen. How is lip enhancement done?Lip enhancement treatments take around 30 minutes, and only require a local anaesthetic. Once this has been administered, the filler is injected into the lips to plump them out. Some mild swelling may be present directly after treatment due to the amount of fluid injected into the lip area for freezing. This usually subsides within a few hours with a worst case scenario being the next morning due to your body having been at rest. The treatment is described as without pain but slightly uncomfortable because of the thought of a needle protruding your skin. How long does lip enhancement last?Although the results vary from one person to another, the results of a lip enhancement treatment with dermal fillers can last for up to nine months. Dermal fillers are gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, so eventually, your lips will return to their previous appearance without top-up treatments. _
Hollywood Smiles Teeth WhiteningOne of the most attractive features of a person is their smile. When you are welcomed by a brilliant white smile, it grabs your attention. Over time, your teeth will inevitably tend to age and become stained by foodstuffs, particularly by smoking and drinking coffee, tea and red wine. To restore the natural colour of your teeth, Hollywood Smiles uses a proven effective method that you can use in the comfort of your own home or office. You will receive a personalised set of impressions along with 2 syringes of 22% gel which is more than ample to give you the desired level of whiteness you require. Further gels can then be purchased directly from Hylagen or from our recommended partner White Smiles (www.whitesmiles247.com).
What is tooth whitening?Tooth whitening can be a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surfaces. It cannot make a complete colour change; but it will lighten the existing shade. Why would I need my teeth whitened? There are a number of reasons why you might get your teeth whitened. Everyone is different; and just as our hair and skin colour vary, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth, and our teeth can also become more discoloured as we get older. Your teeth can also be stained on the surface through food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth. Calculus or tartar can also affect the colour of teeth. Some people may have staining under the surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics or tiny cracks in the teeth which take up stains. How much does tooth whitening cost? You cannot get whitening treatments on the NHS. Private charges will vary from practice to practice and region to region. Laser or power whitening by dentists is anywhere between £300 – £700 and their Home Treatment can be around £300 – £450. Beauty salons are also offering these treatments and pricing structures vary considerably with some charging £150 up to £500. We will offer this treatment at £139.00. _

Here at Hylagen, we believe in achieving beautiful effects through the art of science. That’s why we favour permanent laser hair removal over electrolysis or any other painful and time consuming treatment. Electrolysis can be painful, may leave scars and is only suitable for small areas of your body. Permanent laser hair removal, on the other hand, is suitable for both large and small areas, delivering minimal discomfort and excellent results. Frequently asked questionsHow does laser hair removal work?
As the treatment depends on the laser energy being absorbed by the pigment colour of the hair, it is not possible to treat white, grey, platinum blond or very light shades of hair by laser. How long does laser hair removal take? This depends on the area being treated for laser hair removal and ranges from 15 minutes for the upper lip or chin and bikini line, to 60 minutes for the back or the legs. Is laser hair removal safe?As we only use a beam of light to remove the hair, it is a non-invasive procedure which is perfectly safe. The laser settings used are individually chosen for your skin type and hair colour to minimise the risk of any significant skin reaction. This is also helped by the use of a water cooled tip on the laser hand piece that protects the skin from thermal injury. Is laser hair removal permanent? It is always possible for new hair to grow after any form of hair removal treatment. However, laser treatment is the nearest we can get to achieving excellent long-term results. Occasionally it is possible to see the re-growth of small amounts of hair over a period of time, but this is usually weaker and lighter in colour and can be quickly treated again if necessary. What does laser hair removal cost? The cost of laser hair removal depends on how long it takes to carry out the procedure. This, in turn, depends on the surface area being treated. Larger areas like the legs or back are more expensive than the lips or chin. But we at Hylagen pride ourselves at being the most affordable anywhere on the island of Ireland. _

The revolutionary cold light system activates the whitening solution that is applied to your teeth, making the whitening process fast and easy. After ten minutes, the light shuts off, the whitening solution is taken off, fresh solution is applied, and the whitening light is turned on again. This may be repeated one more time. Then the whitening solution is removed completely and you can begin to enjoy your new smile. In less than one hour, Hylagen can whiten your teeth and leave you with a beaming confident smile. It’s that simple. Frequently asked questionsHow long does the treatment take? With our unique revolutionary LA Smiles system the entire whitening process takes less than 1 hour. Who is suitable for treatment?Although not everyone can benefit from tooth whitening (it cannot lighten fillings or crowns, for example), most people with healthy teeth are potential candidates and can achieve a good result. How long will the results last? The results may last for years, depending on your lifestyle, but unlike other clinics we say that you will mostly get 12 months after you can return for another treatment. That is why we price it at £99! How safe is teeth whitening?Although whitening teeth has become popular lately, the idea is not new. Over time, many technical improvements have been made and the process has been thoroughly studied and safety-tested. Scientific articles have shown that the ingredients used to whiten your teeth are effective and safe. Is the actual treatment painful? The whitening procedure is not painful although some clients can suffer mild sensitivity immediately after treatment. _

Chemical Skin Peels for acne, sun damage and rejuvenationAt Hylagen, we offer four different skin peels: Base Peel – A deep skin rejuvenation, also known as the Pre Oscars Peel Plus Peel – Targets acne scarring and provides a seriously deep rejuvenation Acne Peel – Specifically targets Live Acne. 2-3 peels over a time can give fantastic results Macula Peel – Designed to target sun damage and uneven pigmentationThe skin peel uses a combination of acids to remove skin layers. Depending on the result and condition on the skin there are different combinations of the acids used. The gradual release of the active principles and occlusive effect of the gel are the reasons why the peeling is so quick and intense and make a unique product, which is also particularly safe. These peels are not suitable for Medium to Dark Asia skin or Afro-Caribbean skin as pigmentation damage may occur.
A small amount of the product is applied to the surface of the skin and left on there until the skin shows signs of reaction to it. The acids will penetrate the skin causing a slight tingling/burning sensation to the area treated. The surface product is then removed and a mask applied which gives a soothing/cooling effect to the skin. A post treatment cream will follow which will become part of a post treatment program. RisksWhilst complications from this procedure are uncommon, they do sometimes occur. These include: Allergic reactions to the products. Immediately after the treatment and for up to 10 days the skin may look red/brown to dark brown in areas of past damage. The skin may break slightly, particularly if the post treatment cream is not applied enough, if this happens there is a slight, though rare chance of infection. You may experience a flushed slightly red skin with erythema (swelling). Sensitive skin may still have a slight burning sensation for up to 4 days. Excessive peeling for 2-10 days after treatment. Excessive dryness to the skin surface for up to 10 days. It is important to understand that for a period of up to 10 days post treatment you may wish to arrange your daily routine around the recovery of the treated area as the recovery of the skin is visual, in particular the 2nd to 5th day post treatment. What is a Composition Base Peel?Indicated for skin rejuvenation with rapid recovery. Improved skin brightness and texture. This peel is extremely popular for refreshing the skin and leaving a smooth fresh looking complexion. What is a Composition Acne Peel?To be used specifically for the treatment of active acne. This peel is for the use when acne is still active. It cannot cure the live acne alone, however, used with medication a dramatic improvement can be experienced. A minimum of two peels spaced 10 weeks apart will be required for optimum results. What is a Composition Macula Peel? This is specifically for reducing and removing various types of skin pigmentation marks. Often caused by sun damage, sometimes experienced after pregnancy. The only peel on the market with an active ingredient to suppress further pigmentation damage, which can be experienced with other peels. What is a Composition Plus Peel? The intense action of this formula makes it ideal for advanced photo ageing and helps reduce acne scarring. This treatment allows deep exfoliation. Fantastic results have been experienced with peel. Slightly deeper than the other three in the range. If treating scarring, ideally a course of two peels minimum will be required. Are the peels good for scarring? For the client who wants to improve scarring, such as caused by acne, the peels are very successful. However, it may take more than one peel for the optimum result and, therefore, a longer period of time is required for this treatment. It may be recommended that 2 to 3 peels are needed, spread over 6 to 18 months. Will I be able to go out in the sun after a peel? The peels do resurface the skin. It is always recommended that clients wear a sun protection cream afterwards, of at least SPF 25. The skin is more susceptible to damage for 4 weeks after a peel, therefore, it is not advisable to go into the sun during this period. Will the peel get rid of pigmentation marks?A lot of uneven pigmentation marks are caused by sun damage; these can be greatly improved by peel treatment. However, this is not always the case and, with all peels, there is a small risk of pigmentation marks as a result of the peel. _
Accent Spa RF Skin Tightening TreatmentAt Hylagen Clinics we offer the Accent™ Radiofrequency Remodelling skin tightening treatment. A truly scientific breakthrough in skin tightening, firming and toning without pain or down time.
All skin tightening devices work by gently heating tissue to a level at which natural collagen shrinks to produce a tightening effect. They also stimulate fibroblasts which repair cells in the skin to produce new collagen. Skin can only shrink and tighten by a certain amount so the most suitable people for treatment are those with mild to moderate laxity / sagging of the cheeks, jaw line and neck or mild looseness of the skin of the abdomen or cellulites areas. More significant sagging of the skin is better corrected by surgery such as face lifting or tummy tuck. Frequently asked questionsHow does the treatment work?Radiofrequency has been used for over three years in facial skin remodelling. The heat produced by the system causes instant tightening of collagen and increases collagen production in the dermis. The effect is to tighten and rejuvenate the skin in the treated area. Which areas of the skin can be treated? It is used for tightening & lifting flaccid areas of the face, reducing wrinkles and increasing luminosity of skin and body areas that require skin tightening and toning rather than weight loss. How long does the treatment take and how many sessions will I require?Depending on the area being treated, your first treatment will take 45 – 60 minutes, allowing for ‘before’ photographs to be taken by the consultant. Ongoing treatments will typically be 30 – 45 minute appointments. For facial remodelling, a course of 4- 6 sessions is usually required at 4 week intervals. However body treatments usually require a course of 6 – 8 treatments at regular intervals to be discussed with your consulatant. In the case of stubborn cellulite however, treatment can be applied more frequently. Is the treatment painful?Tolerance to the treatment is very good and there is no need for the use of topical anaesthetic creams beforehand. Patients will generally experience a warm sensation on the surface of the skin as heat builds up; however, continuous contact cooling provides additional patient comfort and epidermal protection. Are there any side effects? The side effects observed have been slight discomfort which is nonetheless very well tolerated, oedema (swelling) and erythema (redness) which disappears in a few hours. These side effects apply to both facial and body treatments. Post treatment care for the face involves the application of an aloe vera gel and it is also essential that the area is protected from direct UVA and sun exposure, in particular for 24 – 48 hours immediately following treatment. Is the treatment effective? The immediate effect is a contraction of collagen fibres, increasing and retracting the skin tissue. It also has a progressive effect with the heat generated unleashing and an increase in new collagen producing skin remodelling. The full effect will not usually be seen for 2 – 3 months How long will the results last?Following a course of treatment, results are expected to last 1 – 2 years. _
Excessive Sweating for underarmsIf you’re looking for a non-surgical treatment that could stop excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), Hylagen could have a quick, long lasting and affordable solution for you using botox. Excessive sweating can be extremely embarrassing, but thankfully there are now a number of treatments that can stop excessive sweating. Through a simple injection of the muscle relaxing Botulinum Toxin, it is possible to significantly reduce the effects of hyperhidrosis in the underarm area. Why choose Hylagen to stop excessive sweating? As one of Irelands leading providers of non-surgical cosmetic procedures you can be confident that our expertise and experience can help you stop excessive sweating. In the past, excessive sweating treatments may have involved removing the sweat glands or cutting nerves in the neck. However, Hylagen now provides a simple and non-invasive way to prevent excessive sweating through Botulinum Toxin injections. We can help you stop excessive sweating at our clinics based in Newry & L’Derry. Request a call back or book a free consultation today. Frequently asked questionsWhat are the benefits of excessive sweating treatments? In most cases, treatments to stop excessive sweating take effect within a matter of days, leading to a significant reduction in the amount of sweating. Typically, improvements last around three to ten months, and can be repeated as often as necessary. How does the treatment stop excessive sweating? The Hyperhydrosis treatment involves an injection of tiny amounts of a muscle relaxant called Botulinum Toxin in a grid pattern over the affected area. You may experience a small amount of discomfort during the procedure, but in most cases, no anaesthetic is required. Are there other products that may help me to stop excessive sweating? For milder cases of hyperhidrosis, talcum powder and cornstarch powder products such as Zeasorb can help to absorb the sweat. However they can cause skin to become irritated over time. If this happens you should consult your GP. Can you give any practical advice on how to stop excessive sweating? Choose the right clothing. Natural fibres like cotton are cool but they absorb sweat and can stay damp once they get wet; some synthetic fibres are warm but they draw sweat away from the body and feel dry. You may find it more comfortable to have a change of clothing available during the day. If your feet are the problem, try using absorbent insoles and leaving shoes to dry out rather than wearing the same pair on consecutive days. Keep your work environment cool and well ventilated. Avoid the food and drinks that seem to trigger sweating. Think about how you can reduce stress during the day, plan your activities carefully and try to make time to relax.
