I went there with my girlfriend recently. Had a fantastic day. It was about 14 euro in but well worth it as there was a wide variety of animals on display. Only dissapointing part of the day was the farm part of the zoo was closed which was unfortunante. But everything else was really good, clean and each animal was detailed very well on a fact sheet. read more >>

Id a great day out with my girlfriend and cousin recently. It has been years since I was here and the place has become a wee bit delabadated. Despite this we still had a great laugh and the kid enjoyed it no end. Would suggest bringing a picnic as food and confectionary is expensive. read more >>

Whilst parts of the Zoo could do with a facelift this is still a great day out for all the ages. Have been recently with my little cousin, and also as part of a large group outing.

People going to the zoo with expectations of being face to face with the animals and seeing them perform should watch a few programmes on wild life first. Within Dublin zoo it is clearly printed on all of the enclosed animals homes that the limited vision is for the animals privacy, and everyone has to respect that . They are not circus animals trained to perform they are animals living their daily lives in surrogate surroundings. When a person visits a zoo they should go with the intent of having a nice day out with the bonus of appreciating wild life which they would probably never have seen before and revel in the delight that this brings them or their families... be more like the animals adapt to the new surroundings as they have had to. Yes we can all say its very expensive getting into the zoo, and we all know how expensive it is to feed 4 kids well most of us,,try feeding four elephants..does that bring the admission fee into perspective? The animals in Dublin zoo are exceptionally well looked after by their caring staff, would anyone prefer cheaper admission at the cost of an animal within it going hungry?? read more >>

The photo taken after you have paid you're € 13 admisson and before you actually enter the zoo is I think great value for money not overly priced ..but a little tip if you are in before 12 and stay all day by the time you get to exit you're photo will be in a basket slashed to half price.! so get in before 12 ..I'll know for next time. read more >>

soooooo expensive n not really worth it!!! this zoo is not very well layed out paths are tooo small especially for the large crowds of people it lets in!!! my favorite part was the elephants as we got there at feeding time but the zoo keepers should talk to the audience more and tell them about the animals worst was the penguins and i LOVE penguins when i saw them it made me very depressed they are in a tiny enclosure n the summer heat with little shade and you can see just by looking at them that they are unhappy!!! not enough picnic seating especially around concession stands!!! you have to pay for map which is ridiculous shop is over priced and full of stuff not even relating to the zoo!!! all and all not a great zoo!!! read more >>

Dublin zoo is a large maze with poor depressing exibits with depressed animals inside! i was quite shocked with dublin zoo during my 1st ever visit. to start off the admittance price was unreasonably high. the exibits were very poor especially the penguins exibit which was too small and the penguins looked depressed. this was quite shocking. alot of the exibits were poorly visible and you had to look through perspex with a slight chance you might see the animals. it was also very overcrowded. on the plus side the elephant exibit was great and we were there when the zoo keepers were feeding them apples which was a blast. also the safari exibit was descent and it was nice seeing the mix of giraffes and zebras in the same exibit. i would recommend making a trip to belfast zoo as a better cheaper alternative. read more >>

10 years have passed since i was last at the zoo until last month, and yes its nice and an adventure and my little man loved it but I so preferred it 10 years ago. It had been freshly renovated and restructured then and the greenery was in no way the mature jungle it is now. I was able to see across the large lakes it was bright and pretty with all the flowers and animals ..I find it now more like a scarey maze . And would hate to loose a child in it. The only improvement is the restaurant..excellent fresh display of food, clean and affordable. Toilets are well located throughout the zoo, as are resting points for refreshments. All with picnic benches if you decide to bring you're own nibbles. I would'nt think of going into the gift shop for anything other than a map. Reasonably priced at €2 . Do ensure you get a map, as the day we visited they must have moved two mating wild dogs and it threw us off completely. I guess next time I may like it more ..I'm no good with changes so it was quite a shock and not what I was expecting . The variety of animals to view is impressive and I even got to snog a rather large Orangutan, through the glass who was looking quite lonely and did'nt need to be asked twice if he wanted a kiss :) it was very sweet and funny . The animals are extremely well cared for and I know the mature overgrowth that caught me by surprise is for their benefit. Remember always during the peak months there are always offers for reduced tickets to the zoo . Persil were doing them this year instant coupon on packaging and Fyffe you had to mail away to. Which I did ..and never received anything yet, glad I had the Persil coupn two for the price of one. Then there is always the Tesco clubcard point to convert to zoo tickets for I believe € 4 Euro so watch for these and be one step ahead at the till :) read more >>

This place is really fun, and the animals are so fascinating and exotic. Really great for kids as it's both fun and educational. It's very impressive, and also has a nostalgia factor - did anyone else see those 9;Stay Safe' videos in the 90s where they were in Dublin Zoo? It's just deadly, but the prices in the gift shop are very high. read more >>

I just love Dublin Zoo! It attracts a lot of tourists but theres always plenty of Irish people too. There is so many different animals, all just as beautiful as the last. Theres a couple of gift shops/restaurants too, not really a fan of the food we prefer to pack our own picnics. Theres a nice play area for kids too. read more >>

I regularly take my nieces and nephews here for a treat and it never fails to amuse them. My one draw back is the fact that some of the animals seem dreadfully lonely and I feel so terribly sorry for them. It's really cool that the zoo is in the phoenix park. read more >>

I went by the Dublin Zoo for the first time on Saturday, and it was amazing. I didn't buy anything from the girftshop or any of the restaurants/snack bars so I don't know how they are on pricing. Probably a bit high, but like I said, I don't know for sure. I loved the African Savanna, because the animals were able to roam free and were stuck in a small caged in area. I went with some friends and can say that the zoo isn't just for kids. It's a great day out for everyone! I took lots of pics; enjoy! read more >>

One of those rare tourist attractions in Dublin which Dublinners also visit. It's part of our childhood, and it'll be part of our children's childhood too. They've made it bigger a few years back with using some african planes or something. It might have been asian planes, but their wings are shaped like Asia. read more >>

I went to Dublin Zoo last week for the first time in years and i was very impressed. Almost all of the animals were there. I remember going before and most enclosures wer empty ! My 9 year old nephew and 2 year old niece loved it too ! The only bad thing is the main restaurant, which is really over priced. Definately bring a packed lunch. read more >>

I'm not a big fan of the Zoo, I think it's very expensive. The enclosures are too small, I feel sorry for the animals locked behind cages and I'd prefer if they were out free in the wild. It is however truely magnificent to behold these animals up close and the Zoo has been updated since I was there last (10years ago) I went last week 8th May and the surrounding of the Park are lovely. I do not like the guys and gals that push you into getting a picture taken before you go in and at the end it's €20 to get the pic and some other stuff - what a rip off.
The shop at the zoo is hugely over priced. read more >>

If its a case where you have a full day to fill with the kids this is the place to go. Its a full days entertainment for all ages. Get the map and follow the route to bring you to all of the animals enclosures. The african planes are great but a little bit exposed to the weather so if its a cold day make sure you wrap up. Restuarants on site so if your not organiesed enough to bring a packed lunch no panic. If you get a zoo pass its excellent value. read more >>

Dublin Zoo ,in Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland is the largest zoo in Ireland and one of Dublin's most popular attractions. Founded in 1830, it is the fourth oldest scientific zoo in the world
.Good for you! Dublin is a wonderful city and he zoo is situated spectacularly on top of a hill. It's VERY hilly and up and down there, I would plan 3 hours, allowing some time to sit at the terrace and gaze at the view. read more >>
