I've been here many times because it is very central and has free wifi (that is technically for the chinese restaurant next door, so it is on one side of the pub). There are a lot of little nooks where you can tuck away with your laptop and a few pints, and it's usually not very busy during the week so you won't be bothered. The food is pretty good, but if I would not go out of my way to come here for dinner.
One thing that is consistent each time I go is that the service pretty much stays behind the bar. I've had drinks with friends several times on the patio and had to go in to the bar to get each round, despite there being a server working. Also, I do not expect a server to check on me upstairs because I am usually only sipping a drink and working, but I have noticed many other people sit upstairs ready to order dinner and drinks and be ignored, then having to wait a very long time for their next round or their check.
Despite the poor service, the bartenders are always very nice and friendly and the Clarendon is in a great location with a lot of areas to sit with friends or a partner and look out on Chatham Row. I'll keep going back , I just know not to wait for a server. read more >>
This is a great bar as a starting point for the night, or just taking a breather from shopping. Just off grafton st, so very central. It has little nooks every where so you can feel like you are the only people in the place
